Trek Back to State Capitols by Sportsmen’s Caucuses Continues
Seven state legislatures began 2006 sessions this week, including four with state sportsmen’s caucuses - Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, and Washington.

Sportsmen can look forward to bills such as Georgia’s HB 441 which would allow any permanently disabled resident an honorary hunting and fishing license at no cost. Washington’s SB 5225, carried over from the 2005 session, would offer permits for hunters to take deer or elk during more than one general season. All revenue derived from the sale of these permits will benefit big game management programs. In Iowa, HB 116 would allow senior citizens one any sex deer hunting license to be used during the season currently dedicated to youth.

Georgia Hosts Annual Sportsmen’s Day at the Capitol
Sportsmen legislators in Georgia hosted the Annual Sportsmen’s Day at the Capitol this Tuesday to discuss opportunities to expand hunting and fishing opportunities for Georgia’s sportsmen and listen to concerns. One issue of concern for the legislative session is baiting regulations. As currently stands, the law restricts hunting within 200 yards or within eye sight of a baited area.

Take Part in National Hunting and Fishing Survey
NASC and CSF Partners the National Shooting Sports Foundation and American Sportfishing Association have paired up with Southwick Associates to offer sportsmen nationwide an opportunity to take part in a brief survey at www.huntersurvey.com and/or www.anglersurvey.com. Results of the surveys will be used by hunting and fishing agencies and sportsmen’s groups to better protect and enhance hunting and fishing opportunities. Participants just need complete a short registration form during the first visit and complete the short 3 minute survey. Hunters and fisherman participating in the survey will be entered in a monthly drawing for one of five $100 gift certificates to sporting goods retailers of their choice.
