SCI Honors 2008 State Legislator of the Year,
Senator Joe McPherson
Washington, D.C. – Safari Club International has named Louisiana Senator Joe McPherson, Jr. their 2008 State Legislator of the Year. He has championed sportsmen’s issues in Louisiana’s State Senate for more than 23 years.

Senator McPherson was awarded the Governor’s Award for Conservation by the Louisiana Wildlife Federation in 2005 and named the Legislative Conservationist of the Year three times. His work on the Natural Resources Committee in Louisiana was instrumental in passing significant legislation for the sportsmen and women of Louisiana. His dedicated work for Louisiana’s hunters helped pass a state constitutional right to hunt and fish.

Washington, DC - Safari Club International (SCI) announced that Louisiana Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus Co-Chairman Senator Joe McPherson is its 2008 State Legislator of the Year. He has championed sportsmen’s issues in Louisiana’s State Senate for more than 23 years.

Youth Big Game Hunting License Bill Passes
NY Assembly, Moves to Senate
Albany, New York - Legislation that would allow fourteen and fifteen year-olds to hunt big game in New York State is positioned to pass in the State Assembly. The New York Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus stands united and is actively engaged in advancing the legislation despite strong protests from anti-hunting organizations.

Big Game Hunting Licenses for Youth is Top Priority
For New York Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus
Albany, NY - A breakfast get-together on Tuesday, April 15th in Albany, hosted for the New York Legislative Sportsmen’s Caucus, brought nearly two dozen pro-sportsmen legislators in touch with numerous state sportsmen’s groups and the industry partners that support them. The breakfast was hosted by the New York Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) and the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC). Turkey talk took center stage, but the real buzz was about a proposal to allow youngsters to hunt big game in the Empire State.
